Hypervigilance Came Back After Healing — Here's What It Means
New anxiety symptoms showing up while you're healing from trauma can feel like proof you're getting worse. They usually aren't. In this video I explain why hypervigilance and new anxiety symptoms can be signs your trauma healing is working — and what to do in the moment the spike hits.
If you've been doing the work and suddenly your chest is tight, your jaw is clenched, and the old hypervigilance is back, you are not sliding backwards. As your nervous system regulation improves, your body begins releasing what it has been holding — in doses. That's titration. New sensations, new emotions, and returning anxiety are often suppressed material surfacing, not regression.
In this video: • Why new anxiety symptoms appear during trauma healing • What titration is, and why healing can feel worse before it feels better • Why hypervigilance comes back after a season of real progress • A one-minute somatic healing practice for feeling the spike without reacting to it • How nervous system regulation and faith work together, not against each other
This is clinical, but pastoral. It's for the woman who has been told to "just trust God" and still can't sleep.
