Why You Still React Like a Child (And How to Heal)
Why do you still react like a frightened child in certain situationsβeven though you're an adult?
Have you ever found yourself people-pleasing, overexplaining, shutting down emotionally, or feeling overwhelmed by rejection? Sometimes these reactions are connected to beliefs and protective patterns we developed during childhood.
In this episode of Elisha's Space, we're exploring inner child healing through a Christian perspective and how reparenting can help you develop greater emotional safety, healthier relationships, and more compassionate responses to yourself.
We'll examine how childhood experiences shape our emotional patterns, why old wounds can resurface in adult relationships, and how biblical truth can help us challenge shame, fear, and limiting beliefs.
Healing doesn't mean pretending the past never happened. It means learning how to respond differently today.
πΏ IN THIS VIDEO, YOU'LL LEARN:
- What inner child healing and reparenting actually mean
- How childhood emotional wounds can affect adult relationships
- Why people-pleasing, perfectionism, and emotional shutdown may develop
- How to recognize emotional triggers and old survival patterns
- Three practical steps for reparenting: Recognition, Compassion, and Responsibility
- How to replace childhood beliefs with healthier, Scripture-grounded responses
- The difference between forgiveness, reconciliation, and healthy boundaries
- A five-step exercise for developing emotional safety
- How Christian faith, prayer, and practical emotional skills can work together
You'll also experience a guided Christian prayer for healing, wisdom, and emotional growth.

βπ½ YOUR HEALING EXERCISE THIS WEEK
Take a piece of paper and write down one belief you developed during childhood that continues influencing your life.
For example:
Old belief: "I have to make everybody happy to be loved."
Healthier response: "I can love others without being responsible for everyone else's emotions."
Ask yourself: What would a compassionate, responsible adult response look like today?
Remember, your childhood may have shaped your responses, but it doesn't have to determine every choice you make.
