Beyond Coping

If you’re tired of just “coping” with anxiety, overwhelm, or emotional pain, your body might be holding on to trauma that needs gentle, compassionate release. 🌿 In this video, I’m sharing therapist-informed, faith-sensitive somatic practices to help you move beyond white-knuckling your way through the day and begin creating a safer experience inside your own body. You’ll learn: • Why trauma shows up in the body (tight chest, knots in your stomach, shutdown, “out of nowhere” reactions) • How your nervous system gets stuck in survival mode (fight, flight, freeze) • 3 simple, accessible somatic practices you can start using today • How to work with your body instead of shaming it for how it’s reacting These are gentle, at-home tools — not a replacement for therapy or medical care — designed to support your healing process, not rush it. 💛 SOMATIC PRACTICES YOU’LL LEARN • 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Use your senses (sight, touch, sound, smell, taste/gratitude) to come back to the present when you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or “far away.” • 4-4-6 Breathing with Self-Hold Breathe in for 4, hold for 4, exhale for 6 while gently holding your chest/belly or arms. This supports your parasympathetic nervous system (“rest & digest”) and creates an internal sense of containment and safety. • Gentle Pendulation (Tension & Soften) Move between mild tension (like softly squeezing your fists or lifting your shoulders) and release. This helps teach your nervous system, “I can feel activation… and I can come back down.” 🧠 KEY THEMES • Somatic healing • Nervous system regulation • Stored trauma in the body • Moving from coping to deeper healing • Trauma-informed, faith-aware support For my Christian viewers: these tools are not meant to replace prayer or faith. They’re a way of honoring the body God created and partnering with Him in the healing of your whole self — mind, body, and spirit. 🕊️ GENTLE DISCLAIMER This content is for educational purposes only and is not a substitute for therapy, diagnosis, or medical treatment. If any practice feels overwhelming, please pause, return to your breath, or skip that section. Listen to your body and honor your limits. 💬 SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE If you try one of these practices, let me know in the comments: Which one did you try, and what’s one word for how you felt afterward?
